![]() I would get the cheaper bike and have 2 sets of wheels. I've learned so much over the last year and half unfortunately with trial (money) and error. That praxis limits you to power pedals that cost alot more. Stages makes a quality power meter left side crank arm for like 300 bucks but only for Shimano. Also that back specs a praxis crank not ultegra. If your strong and ride fast that 48t may hold you back especially when ridi g out of the saddle and that big cog 34 means your probably skipping some cogs on the other end like 14 or 16 and really screws up your cadence. And look at the cassette sizes and what cogs are in it. Really pay attention to the crank brand and chain ring sizes that come on the bike. Now that Zipp has the 303S and ENVE the foundation 45s you can get quality carbon wheels for a fair price. ![]() I wouldnt put alot of weight into manufacturers included carbon wheel. My new bike tarmac sl7 is more aero so I can hold speed above 25mph easier but alot stiffer and not nearly as comfortable as the crux. I started with 35s on it then dropped to conti 5000 tubeless and it's super fast out on the road. It's a cyclocross bike very similar to a gravel bike and a road bike but also compliant so it's a smooth ride. Lighter frame and slightly lower stack so more racier and was the only person to bid on it and ended up winning it. I found a 2018 specialized Crux on ebay for 1900 that was only used a handful of times. So my tcx had heavy wheels so I started looking into wheels and was really sticker shocked. ![]() If some bikes have comfort features (like trick suspensions and the like) or different geometry (there are some gravel and maybe even "endurance" bikes out there that have more aggressive geometries), that's all stuff you could consider if you're going for that little bit of extra speed, agility, or comfort. I mean these are general classification terms used by marketing departments to sell bikes. the only other differences will probably be manufacturer- and model-specific. I think some people looking at entry-level bikes are better off looking at the endurance bikes because they'd come with that, but if you're considering this nice of a bike the cost is not big deal.īeyond that. If you want to go fast, you'll want to get road tires or at least wide slicks on there. Some endurance bikes can get up to 35 or even 38mm of clearance, which is definitely good enough for light gravel, but if you eventually want to pound it on some rougher stuff down the road it may be limiting. The thing is you can always upgrade components on a bike but the frame clearance will limit you unless you get a new frame. My knee-jerk, newbie reaction to this is that if you're looking in that price range, it should probably come down to how rough the gravel you want to ride is.
